Hawks’ Young to miss at least a month with knee sprain

On Saturday, the Atlanta Hawks got relatively good news on the condition of star guard Trae Young’s right knee.

According to the team, Young, who left Wednesday’s game at Brooklyn due to a right knee sprain after his teammate, Mouhamed Gueye, fell on his knee, underwent an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) on Friday at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex. The MRI confirmed a right knee MCL sprain and no additional structural damage.

Young has begun rehabilitation and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks. An update will be provided at that time.

Obviously, losing Young, who is averaging 17.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 7.8 assists in five games this season, is a big blow, but again, the injury appeared as if it could have been worse.

The Hawks return to action on Sunday when they travel to Cleveland to face the Cavs.
