Clap your hands! 76ers overcome 19-point deficit to defeat Wizards

All the Philadelphia 76ers do is win, no matter what.

After trailing by as many as 19 points in the third and by 16 points entering the fourth quarter, the 76ers outscored the Washington Wizards 45-24 in the fourth quarter and overtime to defeat the Wizards(1-3) 139-134 in OT on Tuesday night at Capital One Arena.

With this impressive win, the Philadelphia 76ers, who were playing the second half of a back-to-back after beating the Magic on Monday night, have maintained their undefeated record, now standing at 4-0.

Tyrese Maxey emerged as the star of the game, leading the 76ers with an outstanding performance of 39 points and 10 assists. Despite Joel Embiid’s minutes restriction, he managed to contribute significantly with 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in just 23 minutes. Quentin Grimes also played a crucial role, scoring 23 points, including the game-tying three that sent the game into overtime.

Another standout player in this game was second-year center Adem Bona, whose performance was instrumental in the 76ers’ victory. Bona’s tip dunk(his only basket of the game) with 27.6 seconds left in OT gave the 76ers their first lead since the first quarter. Additionally, Bona had five crucial blocks, all which came in the fourth quarter and overtime. He gave the team great rim protection when they needed it the most.

Let’s Get out of Here on This..

The 76ers have a renewed energy and renewed hope. They came into the season with Embiid on a minutes restriction and no Paul George.

However, Maxey, who scored 9 of the team’s 13 points in overtime, has been playing out of his mind; VJ Edgecombe has been sensational; Grimes has picked up where he left off last season; and Kelly Oubre Jr. has been steady.

Obviously, there’s a long way to go, but for the first time in a long time, there’s excitement and hope in Philadelphia, and there’s a good chance that it could get better.

Going forward, they do have to play better defense, but let’s not let that get in the way of a great story.

What’s Next:

Next up, the 76ers will be hosting the Boston Celtics on Friday.
