Eagles get revenge, rout Giants at the Linc

The Philadelphia Eagles (6-2) defeated the New York Giants(2-6) 38-20 at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.

The Eagles avenged their earlier loss to the Giants and split their two games with New York.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate Philly’s ‘Big 3’ and their outstanding performances on Sunday:

-Jalen Hurts completed 15-of-20 attempts for 179 yards, four touchdowns (tied career high). In the last two weeks, Hurts has thrown for seven touchdowns and zero interceptions.

-Against his former team, Saquon Barkley finally got going for the first time this season. He rushed for a season-high 150 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown(longest run of the season) on 14 carries, and he added 24 yards and a touchdown on four receptions; he combined for 174 total yards and two touchdowns. Tank Bigsby also had a significant impact on the rushing game. He produced his third career game with 100-plus rushing yards with a 104-yard effort on nine carries. Bigsby, who was brought in from the Jaguars to help the return game, had a big 29-yard run that gave Philadelphia a first down on a 2nd-and-26 when they were backed up in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles rushed for a season-high 276 yards and had two 100-yard rushers for the first time since 2013.

-DeVonta Smith led the Eagles’ offense with 84 yards on six receptions. Smith is the team leader in receptions(44) and yards(588).

Honorable Mention:

-Dallas Goedert finished with 28 yards and two touchdowns on three receptions. After eight games, Goedert has a career-high seven touchdowns this season.

-The Eagles had five sacks on Sunday.  Zack Baun, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Jalyx Hunt, and Moro Ojomo each had a sack.

What’s Next:

The Eagles have a Bye week.

End of the Day:

Philadelphia gets a Bye week at a good time. Barkley(groin) left the game at the end of the third, and he’ll have an opportunity to rest up. A.J. Brown(hamstring), who missed Sunday’s game, can get healthy. LB Nolan Smith(triceps) should be able to return. Cam Jurgens (knee) and Landon Dickerson will have an opportunity to rest and get right.

The Eagles put up a season-high 38 points, and Hurts continues his strong MVP campaign with 20 total touchdowns and only one interception after eight games.

Despite inconsistencies, the Eagles are 6-2 and trending upward in the NFC.

After the Bye week, the Eagles have a tough schedule with games against the Packers, Lions, Bills, Chargers, Commanders (twice), and Bears. Resting up will be crucial as they prepare for a challenging stretch.

One More Thing…

-Philadelphia has started 6-2 or better through eight games for the fourth consecutive season, which is tied for the longest stretch in franchise history (also 1947-50). Prior to this streak, the last time the Eagles got off to 6-2 starts or better in consecutive seasons was from 1979-81 (three).

-The Eagles are 13-0 against the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field since 2014 (including playoffs). Overall, Philadelphia owns a 16-4 (.800) record vs. New York over the last 20 matchups.
