With the retirement of edge rusher Za’Darius Smith, the Eagles are in need of reinforcement on the defensive line, and they might turn to a familiar face.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Eagles DE Brandon Graham is now strongly considering coming out of retirement to sign with Philadelphia.
The 15-year veteran, who played in 206 regular-season games, the most in franchise history, and won two Super Bowls with the Eagles, spent his entire career in Philadelphia.
Last season, the 37-year-old Graham, who missed time due to a torn triceps, played 11 games for the Eagles. He missed the last six games of the regular season and three playoff games before returning to play against the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, where he would re-tear his triceps muscle.
He finished the 2024 season with 3.5 sacks and his career with 76.5 sacks, which is third in franchise history.
Following their 28-22 win over the Vikings on Sunday, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni was asked about the possible return of Graham.
“I will always look for ways to improve how he does an unbelievable job there,” Sirianni said. “I don’t think we get into, after a game and game day, I don’t think we get into any roster moves right now or anything like that, and we’ll see what happens. But I always love how he does everything he can do to help this, how he’s so relentless. I feel like this team’s relentless. You know, the coaches are relentless, the players are relentless, how he’s relentless, and ways to try and find ways to get better.”
If Graham is healthy, he could help the team. Before the injury last season, he was playing well for the Eagles, but age is not just a number, so we’ll see what he has left.
Graham had the perfect ending. He went out a champion; however, it appears he wants to try to help the Eagles win it again.
