76ers’ George has surgery on left knee, will be re-evaluated prior to start of training camp

The Philadelphia 76ers will enter the 2025-26 season with more questions than answers following Monday’s news.

The 76ers were hit with a significant blow as Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee to treat an injury sustained during a recent workout, the team announced Monday.

According to the 76ers, the 35-year-old will now begin a rehabilitation program, and his progress will be monitored regularly. He will be re-evaluated prior to the start of training camp.

Due to various injuries, George, who was shut down for the season in March, played in only 41 games last season; he averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per contest. This was George’s lowest points per game since his third season in the league, and the lowest number of games he’s played in since the 2021-22 season.

Last summer, the 15-year veteran signed a four-year, $212 million deal.

With all the uncertainty surrounding Joel Embiid and now this news on George, who knows what the 76ers will be next season? The Eastern Conference is wide open, but if Philadelphia is not healthy, none of that matters.
