Eagles’ Sirianni feels team has to be even better with ‘Tush Push’ in 2025

Last month, NFL owners voted to keep the “Tush Push” legal for the 2025 season. The play, made famous by the Philadelphia Eagles, barely survived, but in the end, it survived.

On Tuesday, at Eagles’ mandatory minicamp, head coach Nick Sirianni shared his thoughts on the play surviving another year.

“Yeah, it passed and didn’t want to go too much past that and were ready to be able to continue to grow that play,” he said. “Excited about being able to continue to grow that play. We have a lot of work to do to continue that success.

“It just doesn’t happen. The same work that we needed to put into it last year, we’ll even have to be better because we know teams are going to focus on it to try to stop it, and we’ll even have to be better at how we coach it and how we perform it and how we execute. So that’s really try not to focus too much on things that I can’t control and only focus on the things that you can. That’s our process right now to think about the ways that we’re going to get to get better at running that play and the compliments that come off of it.”

The Eagles are really the only team that has had prolonged success with the play, so the owners are clearly targeting one team. With defensive coordinators across the NFL now focused on stopping the ‘Tush Push’, the Eagles face a significant challenge. As Sirianni rightly points out, the Eagles will need to be at their best to maintain the play’s success. Considering, what they have with Jalen Hurts and the offensive line, they probably will continue to have a lot of success when it’s 3rd or 4th and short.
