One of the biggest rivalries in the NFL will be on full display when the 2025 NFL season begins on Thursday, September 4(8:20 p.m. ET/NBC).
The world champion Philadelphia Eagles, known for their fierce rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys, will begin the defense of their title against their long-time adversaries at Lincoln Financial Field, the league announced Monday.
Philadelphia Eagles, a force to be reckoned with, showcased their dominance in 2024. After a modest start of 2-2, they went 12-1 over the next 13 games and Philadelphia finished the regular season 14-3, culminating in a resounding victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, securing their second Super Bowl title.
The Cowboys, who finished 7-10 in 2024, struggled and battled injuries throughout the season, including injuries to their quarterback Dak Prescott, but in the offseason, the Cowboys did acquire a weapon in wide receiver George Pickens. Also, they will have a new head coach in Brian Schottenheimer
The Philly faithful will be loud and boisterous on September 4, and this is an excellent way for the league to start the 2025 season.
