The Cleveland Cavaliers have shown their dominance by advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals after a resounding victory over the Heat. They beat the Heat 138-83 in Game 4 of their first-round series on Monday night in Miami.
The Cavaliers’ 55-point beatdown is a significant achievement, marking the fourth-largest margin of victory in NBA playoff history, according to Elias Sports.
Furthermore, the Cavaliers’ performance, as noted by Elias Sports, saw them outscore the Heat by a staggering 122 PTS in the four-game sweep, setting a new record for the largest point differential in any playoff series in NBA history.
With the win, the Cavs earn the sweep and will face the winner of the Pacers/Bucks series.
The Cavs, who were playing their second straight game without injured point guard Darius Garland, led the Heat by as many as 60 points. Cleveland, who led by as many as 29 points in the first quarter, led 72-33 at halftime.
The Heat basically quit early in this game. It appeared the game was over after the first quarter, and it was definitely over by halftime.
Cleveland’s performance was a team effort, with six players making significant contributions. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 22 points, Jarrett Allen added 14 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals, De’Andre Hunter poured in 19 points, and Ty Jerome chipped in with 18 points off the bench.
Miami’s Nikola Jovic had a game-high 24 points off the bench.
Bottom Line:
When you have championship aspirations and you’re the better team, you don’t want to have to play extra games. You want to handle what you need to handle and move on, and that’s what the Cavs did in Miami. They didn’t mess around; they dominated the Heat. Now, you want to get Garland healthy and ready for the next round, which will probably be against the Indiana Pacers, who lead the Bucks 3-1 in their first-round series.
