In the NFL, you win because of what you do in the trenches, the play of your offensive and defensive lines, and the Philadelphia Eagles dominated the trenches last season.
On Monday, the team continued to work to keep their offensive line intact.
The Eagles announced on Monday that Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens and the team reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s a $68 million extension with $39.4 million guaranteed, which contractually ties him to Philadelphia through the 2029 season.
The extension makes Jurgens the second-high-paid center in the NFL.
The 25-year-old, who the team selected in the second round in the 2022 NFL Draft, played center in college but started the first two seasons of his career at the guard spot before transitioning back to center last season after Jason Kelce’s retirement.
With the Jurgens’ extension, the world-champion Eagles have done the following over the past year with their offensive line.
LT Jordan Mailata: three years, $66 million.
LG Landon Dickerson: four years, $84 million.
RT: Lane Johnson: one-year, $25 million.
The Eagles will select 32 in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which begins Thursday night in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
