76ers’ Maxey to miss rest of season with finger injury

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey’s season has officially come to an end.

According to the team, Maxey will miss the rest of the season with a sprained right finger.

Here is what the 76ers announced on Thursday:

“During his ramp up to return to play, Tyrese Maxey reinjured his sprained right finger, which was confirmed by a recent MRI. Because of the reinjury and related pain and swelling, he will be unable to play for the rest of the regular season. He is expected to make a full recovery.”

In a career-low 52 games, the 24-year-old Maxey, who last played on March 3, will finish the season averaging 26.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per contest.

In March, the team shut down Embiid(knee) for the rest of the season, and they did the same to George(abductor/knee).

The 76ers, who have lost 12 straight, travel to D.C. to face the Wizards on Wednesday night.
