Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had an epic 2024 season. He rushed for 2005 yards in the regular season and 499 yards in the playoffs, and he finished the season with an NFL record 2504 yards.
Ultimately, Barkley and the Eagles would be the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59.
Barkley, who spent the first six years of his career with the New York Giants, signed a three-year, $37 million contract last offseason with Philadelphia, and now the Eagles will reward him with even more money.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Barkley will sign a two-year, $41.2 million contract extension with the Eagles that makes him the highest-paid running back in NFL history and the NFL’s first $20 million-plus per-year running back. Barkley can earn an additional $15 million in incentives and escalators. The deal includes $36 million, which is fully guaranteed at signing.
The 28-year-old, who won offensive player of the year in 2024, will be in Philadelphia for the next four seasons, and at this point, he has found a home with the Eagles.
Philadelphia usually does not do what they did with Barkley with other players, but the franchise is clearly rewarding him for a spectacular season.
