Corner Darius Slay’s time with the Philadelphia Eagles could be coming to an end.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles are releasing Slay. The move, expected to happen after June 1, will save the Eagles $4.3 million against the cap.
Slay, 34, who helped the Eagles capture a Super Bowl in 2024, stated that he wanted to play another season.
The six-time Pro Bowler had a strong season for the Eagles last season. According to Pro Football Focus, Slay was fourth in pass breakups.
After spending the first seven years of his career with the Lions, the 12-year veteran was traded to the Eagles in 2020. During his time with the Eagles, Slay went to three Pro Bowls, two conference championships, and two Super Bowls.
There is still a chance the Eagles will bring Slay back at a lower price, but we’ll see how that plays out.
