The NBA announced Monday that Mavericks guard Luka Dončić was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Dec. 2 through Sunday, Dec. 8.
It marks the first time this season and 14th time in his career that he has received the honor.
Dončić led the Mavericks to a perfect 3-0 week with averages of 29.3 points (.458 FG%, .438 3FG%), 11.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 3.3 steals in 37.0 minutes per game.
This season, Dončić is averaging 28.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, a career-high 1.9 steals and 36.7 minutes in 18 games (all starts) this season. He ranks in the top 25 in scoring (5th), rebounding (24th), assists (8th) and steals(5th).
Dončić’s 14 career Player of the Week awards have all come since 2019-20, the most by any Western Conference player over the past six seasons and second-most by any player overall during that stretch (Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo has earned 15). Nowitzki (16) is the only Maverick to garner the award more times.
