On Saturday, PBC announced that WBA 135-pound champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis(30-0, 28 KOs) would take on WBA 130-pound champion Lamont Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday, March 1, from Barclays Center in Brooklyn (PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video).

Davis, 30, last showcased his prowess in June when he triumphed over the previously unbeaten contender Frank Martin. On the other hand, the 29-year-old Roach, who will be stepping up to 135 for this fight, also displayed his skill also in June by defeating his opponent Feargal McCrory.

The fight was initially rumored to take place in December in Houston. However, there’s been a twist in the tale, and now Davis is set to headline another card at Barclays Center. This change in venue adds a new dimension to the fight. The last time Davis headlined a card in Brooklyn was when he stopped Rolly Romero in 2022.

This upcoming match is not just a fight, it’s a ‘Beltway Battle’. With Davis hailing from Baltimore and Roach from D.C., this regional rivalry could add a whole level of intrigue and intensity to the fight.
