Mavs sign Jaden Hardy to multi-year contract extension

On Tuesday night, the Dallas Mavericks announced that they have agreed to a multi-year contract extension with guard Jaden Hardy.

According to Shams Charania, it’s a three-year, $18 million rookie contract extension.

The 22-year-old enters his third season after averaging 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists through a career-high 73 games, including seven starts, in 2023-24. In his sophomore season, he recorded three games with at least seven assists after failing to produce such a game his entire rookie season.

In his rookie season, Hardy notched 8.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists through 48 games. He recorded five 25-point games as a rookie, the second-most by a Maverick before turning 21 years old and the fifth-most by a Dallas rookie ever.

Hardy played one year for the G League Ignite before being selected 37th overall by Sacramento in the 2022 NBA Draft and traded to the Mavericks on draft night. In his two seasons, Hardy averaged 7.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 14.0 minutes over 121 games (12 starts).

The Mavericks begin the regular season on Thursday night at home against the Spurs.
