The New Orleans Pelicans and guard Jose Alvarado have agreed to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Monday.
According to Shams Charania, Alvarado has agreed to a two-year, $9 million contract extension with a player option for the 2026-27 season.
Last season, the three-year veteran averaged 7.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
Alvarado, who originally signed a two-way contract with New Orleans after going undrafted in 2021, has appeared in 171 games (11 starts) across three seasons with the club.
The 26-year-old holds career averages of 7.5 points, 2.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 18.5 minutes per contest.
Alvarado should be the backup point guard to newly acquired Dejounte Murray this season.
