On Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers made it official as they announced the signing of power forward Guerschon Yabusele.
According to Shams Charania, it’s a one-year, $2.1 million deal.
The silver medalist for France in the 2024 Paris Olympics averaged 14.0 points (second on the team) and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 51.9 percent from the field this summer.
Yabusel, 28, spent the last three seasons playing in Spain for Real Madrid, helping lead the team to two Liga ACB championships (2022, 2024) and a Euroleague title (2023).
This past season, he played in 64 games (35 starts) across ACB and Euroleague, averaging 9.7 points (53.1 FG%, 44.5 3P%, 81.3 FT%) and 4.0 rebounds per game. In addition to Real Madrid, Yabusele has played in France (ASVEL Basket, Rouen Métropole Basket, Chorale Roanne Basket), the United States (Boston Celtics), and China (Nanjing Monkey Kings, Shanghai Sharks) since his professional debut in 2013.
Yabusele, who was the 16th pick in the 2016 draft by the Boston Celtics and was with the organization from 2016-19, gets another chance in the NBA. Currently, Caleb Martin is penciled in as the team’s starting power forward, and the 6-8 Yabusele should have an opportunity to get some minutes at the four spot. If he does what he did in the Olympics, the Sixers will be happy with his production.
