The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released outside linebacker Randy Gregory, the team announced on Thursday.
The 31-year-old, who signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers in the offseason, did not report to any of the team’s offseason activities, including training camp. According to reports, he is expected to retire.
Gregory, who had been suspended numerous times by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy throughout his career, entered the league as a second-round pick (No. 60 overall) of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft. He remained with Dallas through the 2021 season before later playing for the Denver Broncos (2022-23) and San Francisco 49ers (2023).
The seven-year veteran appeared in 72 career regular season games, recording 117 tackles (27 for loss), 69 quarterback hits, 22.0 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
