On Friday, the Washington Wizards announced they signed forward Saddiq Bey.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, it’s a three-year, $20 million contract.
Bey, 25, appeared in 63 games (51 starts) for the Hawks last season, averaging 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game before missing the remainder of the season with a torn ACL suffered on March 10 against New Orleans.
The Largo, Maryland native has played in 292 career games (223 starts) with the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks, averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
The Hawks acquired the four-year pro via trade with the Pistons in February 2023. The Brooklyn Nets initially selected him with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft before trading him to Detroit on draft night. Bey played 204 games with the Pistons to begin his career, including the 2021-22 season, during which he started all 82 games and averaged a career-high 16.1 points per game.
Bey is a decent scorer and a solid shooter. He should be a solid floor spacer for the Wizards.
