On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced they’ve signed 2024 draft selections Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.
According to Shams Charania, James’ rookie contract with the Lakers is a four-year deal worth $7.9 million, which includes a player option in the fourth season.
Both Knecht and James will be part of the Lakers Summer League team as they participate in the California Classic in San Francisco, held July 6-10, and the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, which spans July 12-22.
Selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Knechlt averaged 21.7 points (45.8 FG%, 39.7 3P%, 77.2 FT%), 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 36 games (all starts) last season at the University of Tennessee. The 2023-24 SEC Player of the Year earned First Team All-America honors and ranked third in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage last season.
James, the son of Lakers star LeBron James, was drafted by the Lakers with the 55th overall pick. In his lone season at the University of Southern California in 2023-24, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25 games (six starts).
Knecht will wear jersey No. 4 for the Lakers, while James will wear No. 9.
The Lakers will be must-see TV this summer with James on the roster.
