Report: Knicks acquire Mikal Bridges

The New York Knicks are trying to win right now, and based on their move, the future is now.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Brooklyn Nets have agreed in principle on a trade to send F Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via Bucks, an unprotected pick swap and a second-rounder.

The Knicks are sending four unprotected picks (2025, 2027, 2029, 2031), a 2025 protected Milwaukee first, and a 2028 unprotected pick swap, according to Wojnarowski.

The “Nova Knicks” have added another member to their unit, which already includes Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo.

Last season, Bridges, acquired from Phoenix in the trade that sent Kevin Durant to Phoenix in 2023, played in all 82 games with the Nets. He averaged 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per contest.

In addition, the move reportedly may not stop the team from bringing back unrestricted free agent forward OG Anunoby, who recently declined his player option. Anunoby will definitely receive a lot of attention on the open market.

Last season, the Knicks lost to the Pacers in the second round of the playoffs.

Regarding the Nets, the rebuild is now, and they have the draft capital to do just that.

After this latest trade, here is what Brooklyn got back for Durant:

Cam Johnson, eight unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick swap, a 2028 unprotected pick swap, and three second-round picks.

We’ll see what other moves are made. The first round of the NBA Draft is Wednesday night, and the second round is Thursday.
