On Thursday, the Hawks announced that forward Jalen Johnson, who left Tuesday’s loss to the Miami Heat with a right ankle sprain, had an MRI yesterday that revealed a Grade 2 lateral ankle sprain.
According to the team, he will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks.
Also, center Onyeka Okongwu (left big toe sprain) underwent a non-surgical procedure on Tuesday to deal with ongoing inflammation in his left big toe. He will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks. Okongwu injured his toe in February and has missed the last 26 games for the Hawks.
The Hawks (36-44) are the 10th-seed in the Eastern Conference and will play the Bulls in the Play-In Tournament, and unfortunately, they won’t have two key contributors.
