The Spurs will be without two starters for the rest of the 2023-24 season.
After missing Sunday night’s Spurs-Warriors game, fourth-year guard Devin Vassell underwent an MRI this morning in San Antonio. The exam revealed a stress reaction to the third metatarsal head in the right foot. Ruled out at halftime of Friday night’s Spurs-Knicks game, second-year forward Jeremy Sochan was diagnosed with a left ankle impingement. After consultation with outside experts, the Spurs medical team has determined that arthroscopic surgery is the best approach to correct the injury, the team announced on Monday
Both Vassell and Sochan will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
This season, the 23-year-old Vassell, who agreed to a five–year, $146 million contract extension in October, averaged career-high in points(19.5) and assists(4.1), while Sochan. 20, had career-highs in points(11.6), rebounds(6.4), and assists(3.4).
The Spurs (18-57), who fell to the Warriors on Sunday, return to action on Tuesday when they face the Denver Nuggets.
