Cousins to Falcons, Wilson to Steelers

Kirk Cousins gets another big contract, this time with the Atlanta Falcons.

According to Adam Schefter, Cousins gets a four-year, $180 million deal, including $100 million guaranteed. He will make $45 million a season.

The 35-year-old, will enter the 2024 season coming off a torn right Achilles that he suffered in October against the Packers.

In eight games last season, the 12-year veteran threw for 2331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

The Falcons, who went 7-10 last season, needed a quarterback, and they believe Cousins is their guy. Cousins will put up decent numbers, but can you win with him in the end?

Plus, he’s coming off an Achilles injury and will be 36 years old when the season starts. Maybe he’ll be fine, but this seems like a lot for Cousins.

Wilson heads to the Steelers

Russell Wilson has found a home. Wilson, according to Adam Schefter, he will sign a one-year deal with the Steelers. The Denver Broncos will pay $38 million of his salary, according to the report.

After struggling in 2022, the nine-time Pro-Bowler, who was released by the Broncos earlier this month, had a bounce-back year in 2023. Wilson threw for 3070 yards, 26 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions.

The 12-year veteran, who spent ten seasons with the Seahawks, was acquired by the Broncos from Seattle in 2022 and would sign a five-year, $245 million contract with Denver before the start of that season.

Wilson gives the Steelers a chance; he’s an upgrade over Kenny Pickett. Plus, Wilson, who won a Super Bowl in Seattle, has something to prove in 2024, and the 35-year-old, if he plays well, could put himself in a position to get another big contract.

Last season, the Steelers were 10-7 and made the playoffs. With Wilson, they have decent shot to go back to the playoffs and possibly do some damage in the postseason.
