Pistons buy out Muscala, eligible to sign with playoff team

The Detroit Pistons and Mike Muscala have reached an agreement to buy out the veteran center’s contract, the team announced on Wednesday.

The Pistons have requested waivers on Muscala, and he will be eligible to sign with a playoff team.

Muscala, 32, was originally acquired by the Pistons in a trade with Washington on Jan. 14, 2024. He averaged 3.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 13 appearances (four starts) during his time with Detroit.

The 10-year NBA veteran has appeared in 532 career games and averaged 6.0 points and 3.2 rebounds with Atlanta, Philadelphia, L.A. Lakers, Oklahoma City, Boston, Washington and Detroit.

The 6-10 center is a good shooter who could possibly help a playoff team; it should be interesting to see what the market will be for Muscala.
