On Thursday, the NFL handed out awards for the 2023 season at the NFL Honors Awards in Las Vegas.
To no one surprise, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson took home his second league MVP award after leading Baltimore to the best record in the NFL. Jackson threw for 3678 yards with 24 touchdowns; he also led the team in rushing with 821 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
49ers running back Christian McCaffrey won Offensive Player of the Year. McCaffrey led the league with a career-high 1,459 rushing yards while ranking second among running backs with 14 rushing touchdowns.
McCaffrey recorded seven games with at least 100 rushing yards, a career- and league-best this season. He became the third player in NFL history to record at least 2,000 scrimmage yards in a season for two franchises after totaling 2,023 yards this season and 2,392 yards in 2019 with Carolina.
The Texans C.J. Stroud, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, was named Offensive Rookie of the Year, and his teammate, Will Anderson, won Defensive Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Stroud recorded the third-most passing yards by a rookie in NFL history and became the fourth qualifying rookie quarterback in NFL history with a passer rating of 100-or-higher. He also led all rookie quarterbacks with 23 touchdown passes and had just five interceptions, becoming the youngest player all-time to lead the league in touchdown-to-interception ratio.
The Browns, who made the playoffs for the first time since 2020, also got some recognition for a solid season. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski won Coach of the Year; DE Myles Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year; quarterback Joe Flacco won Comeback Player of the Year and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz won Assistant Coach of the Year.
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward has been selected as the 2023 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.
