The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, and on Wednesday, the Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics made a move. The Grizzlies acquired forward Lamar Stevens and two future second-round draft picks from the Boston Celtics for forward/center Xavier Tillman Sr.
The 25-year-old Tillman is averaging 6.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.0 blocks in 20.6 minutes in 34 appearances (13 starts) with Memphis this season.
Tillman Sr. brings toughness and is a solid defender, which should help the Celtics come playoff time.
For the Grizzlies, they get draft capital.
Stevens has averaged 2.8 points and 1.6 rebounds in 6.4 minutes with Boston this season. The 25-year-old has competed in 184 games (39 starts) in four seasons with the Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers and has averaged 5.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15.0 minutes since going undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Tillman Sr. has appeared in 207 games (56 starts) in four seasons with the Grizzlies and has averaged 6.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 17.7 minutes since he was selected 35th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.
