The Memphis Grizzlies got more bad injury news on Friday.
Marcus Smart has been diagnosed with a left foot sprain, which was sustained during the Nov. 14 game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to the Grizzlies, Smart is expected to return within 3-5 weeks, and further updates will be provided as appropriate.
Memphis(2-9), who is off to a slow start, have lost Steven Adams for the season with a knee injury and are without Ja Morant(suspension) for the first 25 games of the season. Also, they are missing reserves Derrick Rose, Xavier Tillman Sr, and Luke Kennard.
The Grizzlies acquired Smart from the Celtics in the offseason, and he is off to a good start as he’s averaging 12.5 points, a team-leading 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per contest.
Memphis returns to action on Saturday night in San Antonio against the Spurs.
