Grizzlies’ Adams out for season with knee injury

Coming into the season, the Memphis Grizzlies were one of the favorites in the West, but the news they got on Sunday will definitely impact this team.

Grizzlies starting center Steven Adams will undergo season-ending surgery on his right posterior cruciate ligament after non-operative rehabilitation did not resolve ongoing knee instability.

The 30-year-old will miss the 2023-24 season and is expected to fully recover ahead of next season.

Last season, Adams averaged 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per contest.

With Ja Morant suspended for the first 25 games and no Adams, the Grizzlies may struggle out of the gate.

At this point, Memphis must find a suitable replacement for Adams. Maybe a Bismack Biyombo type, who is currently a free agent. No matter who they bring in to replace Adams, it will take a lot of work to replace what the 10-year veteran brings to the table.
