Eagles’ Sirianni talks addition of Bradley Roby

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles signed corner Bradley Roby to their practice squad.

The Saints released the 31-year-old in August. In 2022, Roby, who many teams were said to be interested in, started ten games for the Saints.

The Eagles have had injuries in the secondary, including Avonte Maddox(torn pectoral). With Maddox out, Philly moved James Bradberry to the slot.

On Wednesday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni discussed the signing of Roby.

“He has a lot of experience, both on the outside corner and at the nickel spot,” Sirianni said. “We are a little banged up there right now, so he gives us some good depth and a guy who has done it before, and we are excited to have him on this football team.”

Sirianni believes the addition of Roby will give the team more flexibility.

“Yeah, it gives you more flexibility to do different things,” Sirianni said. “We are confident in James(Bradberry) at the outside corner and at the nickel position, but it does; it just gives you more flexibility there.

The nine-year veteran has played in many different defenses, but he’ll have to learn Sean Desai’s defense. At this point, Sirianni is still determining how long it will take Roby to get acclimated to the team’s defensive schemes.

“We’ve had guys ready to play all sorts of different times,” he said. “And so, you never really can tell. The plan is still being worked out. Obviously, we don’t have our game plan finished yet. We still have multiple days to work on that.

“We’ll see how long it takes. I know he’s a really sharp guy, and so we’ll see. I mean, everybody is a little bit different, though.”

Roby could be a good addition for the Eagles. Last season, Bradberry had a very good season on the outside, and with the addition of Roby, Bradberry should be able to assume that role again.
