The New York Giants will open the preseason on August 11 in New England against the Patriots, the team announced Tuesday.
The Giants and Patriots will meet in the preseason opener for the first time since 2003. The teams faced each other in the final preseason game in 15 consecutive summers from 2005-19, a streak that ended when the NFL canceled the 2020 preseason because of the pandemic.
The Giants’ only home preseason game this year will be played on Sunday, August 21, when they host the Cincinnati Bengals at 7 p.m. The Giants and Bengals will meet in the preseason for the first time since a 25-23 Giants victory in Cincinnati on August 22, 2019.
One week later, the Giants will return to MetLife Stadium as the visiting team when they face the Jets on August 28 at 1 p.m. The teams squared off in 51 consecutive summers (1969-2019) before the streak ended two years ago.
The Giants open the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 4:25 p.m. at Tennessee.
