Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeSean McCoy knows what a Super Bowl winning team looks like because last season McCoy was apart of the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54. Led by Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City had a big-time offense last season, and if all goes well, McCoy’s new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, should have a great offense this season.
McCoy, who recently signed with the Buccaneers, has joined a team that many believe can contend in 2020. Not only does Tampa Bay have arguably the G.O.A.T. in Tom Brady, but they have two Pro Bowl wide receivers(Mike Evans and Chris Godwin). Also, they have a Hall of Fame tight end in Rob Gronkowski.
According to McCoy, the Buccaneers are a team without many flaws, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
“As I look at this team, especially the offense, I don’t really see any flaws,” McCoy said via a video call on Thursday. “Obviously, we can get better, and there is a day a group doesn’t do well, but overall. The biggest thing that jumps out is the offensive line. [Those] guys are good. They play well together, they communicate, they’re tough, they’re a smart group – that’s rare. It’s always up and down – maybe this side is really, really smart and this side is really, really physical or vice versa. They’re all together – they’re solid. Then you take a Hall of Fame quarterback who gets the ball out quick, who knows where to go with the ball, can pick apart the defense, read the coverages and read the blitzes. Then the wide receivers – those guys are the real deal, and the tight ends. Then the backfield – when you’ve got all that going on as a running back, it makes it so much easier when you’ve got all that going on the outside. You get your yards in there with a light box, with no defenders really preparing for the run. RoJo (Ronald Jones II) – he’s one of the most talented running backs I’ve seen in a long time. It makes me remember back to when I was in my second or third year – just naturally quick, the acceleration, agility – he has a lot of those tools. He’s really, really good. There are some things he can work on [and] all of us, but I think collectively as a group, we can help each other out. As an offense, I’m really excited. I prepare to have a good year this year – I really do.”
Tampa Bay’s offense was solid last season with Jameis Winston and should be even better in 2020 with Brady. Furthermore, they had a defense that was solid last season. Now, can they put it all together this season? Brady is 43, so while he has defied the odds to this point, anything can happen at his age. However, if he continues to defy the odds, McCoy is right, the Buccaneers are a team without many flaws on offense.
