Norvel Pelle leads Blue Coats to victory

The Delaware Blue Coats (6-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, defeated Raptors 905 (3-5), 115-106, on Tuesday night at 76ers Fieldhouse for the team’s third-straight victory. In his fifth game with the Blue Coats, 76ers two-way contract player Norvel Pelle notched his third double-double of the season with 20 points (9-14 fg, 1-2 ft), a season-high-tying 14 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in 27 minutes of action.

Six Blue Coats players scored in double figures for the fourth time this season. Zhaire Smith, on assignment from the 76ers, tallied a season-high-tying 18 points (8-13 fg, 1-2 3fg, 1-1 ft) and added five rebounds in 31 minutes. 76ers two-way contract player Marial Shayok posted 16 points (5-13 fg, 2-5 3fg, 3-3 ft), six rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes off the bench for Delaware, while Christ Koumadje added a season-high 12 points (5-6 fg, 1-1 ft) to go along with four rebounds and three blocks in 15 minutes as a reserve.

Delaware led 54-49 at halftime and is now a perfect 5-0 overall when leading at the break.

The 905 also saw six players reach double figures scoring. Dewan Hernandez, on assignment from Toronto, posted a game-high 22 points (10-17 fg, 2-3 ft) with eight rebounds in 27 minutes. Raptors two-way contract player Shamorie Ponds came off the bench and scored 17 of his 19 points (6-15 fg, 2-7 3fg, 2-2 ft) in the second half. Justin Anderson (4-15 fg, 3-10 3fg, 4-5 ft) and Raptors two-way contract player Oshae Brissett (7-25 fg, 1-9 3fg, 1-2 ft) each contributed 17 points in the loss, with Brissett adding 11 rebounds in 27 minutes to secure his first career double-double.

The Blue Coats will host the Capital City Go-Go on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at 76ers Fieldhouse.
