Bucs’ Arians: ‘We are coming into stadiums expecting to win’

While it is probably too late for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to make the playoffs in the NFC, this team has finally started to play well, including Sunday’s 28-11 road win against the Jaguars.

With the victory, the Buccaneers(5-7) have now won three of their last four games, which includes two straight victories on the road. The defense forced four turnovers on Sunday, and QB Jameis Winston(21-33, 268 yards) played well.

“We want to finish this thing strong,” Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said after the game. “We will add them up at the end and see if it’s enough. We want to hopefully get three in a row at home. We can’t get six in a row; we can only get three in a row. I like where we are at. We are practicing and preparing extremely hard each week. We are coming into stadiums expecting to win.”

Winston agreed with Arians’ sentiments.

“We should expect to win,” Winston said. “So, I appreciate Bruce, and I definitely back that. We’ve just got to continue to do it, and I think we’re just coming together. These past two games have been great games of playing complementary football. Our defense has been incredible, and we have capitalized on opportunities that our defense has given us. We have just got to continue to do that.

“We’ve got to finish better as an offense, and as long as we do that, we’re going to be a tough team to play.”

The Buccaneers have four games left; if they can continue to play at this level, maybe they continue their winning ways, and if Tampa Bay can finish the season strong, perhaps it could give this team some confidence going into next season. However, for now, Tampa can enjoy this victory over Jacksonville and get ready to head home to battle the Colts next Sunday.
