The Minnesota Vikings have brought back WR Laquon Treadwell and corner/returner Marcus Sherels, the team announced today. To make room for Treadwell and Sherels, the Vikings put WR Chad Beebe on injured reserve and wiaved LB Devante Downs.
The Vikings brought back Treadwell after Beebe, who according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, suffered torn ligaments in his ankle on Sunday against the Raiders. Minnesota released Treadwell after training camp this summer, and last season, the former 2016 first-round pick of the Vikings had career-highs in receptions and yards in 2018.
Sherels returns to Minnesota after spending the offseason with the Saints. The nine-year veteran spent his whole career with Minnesota and holds franchise records for punt return yardage, punt return touchdowns, and punt return average. Sherels is expected to take over Beebe’s punt return duties.
