The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed seven-year veteran RB Benny Cunningham, the club announced today.
Cunningham believes the Jaguars can do big things in 2019, which is one of the reasons he wanted to join the team.
“I’m just excited to have the opportunity,” Cunningham said. “I feel like the pieces are in place for this team to win a Super Bowl, and I want to be a part of something special.”
Cunningham, 5-10, 218, originally signed with the St. Louis Rams in 2013 as an undrafted rookie. He played for the Rams from 2013-16 prior to spending 2017-18 with the Chicago Bears.
Much was expected from the Jaguars in 2018, but things went south for the team after starting 3-1. Jacksonville would win only two of their next 12 games, and they finished the season at 5-11.
Now, it’s a new day in Jacksonville with the addition of a Super Bowl winning QB in Nick Foles. Also, the Jaguars still have one of the better defenses in football, so maybe Cunningham is on to something.
