The Jacksonville Jaguars season is close to being over at this point after losing to the Colts 29-26 at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday. With the loss, Jacksonville has lost five straight, and at 3-6, the Jaguars are in last place in the AFC South.
On Monday, corner Jalen Ramsey had an interesting tweet.
Take a look:
When I’m gone from here, y’all gone miss me. I ain’t even trippin lol
— Jalen Ramsey (@jalenramsey) November 12, 2018
Does Ramsey want out of Jacksonville, who knows, but this is a very interesting tweet.
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone responded to Ramsay’s tweet at his media session:
“I was just made aware of it from [Director of Public Relations] Tad [Dickman],” Marrone said. “I think that is one of the things that I spoke to the team about prior to not knowing… People are going to come after you and rightfully so. I don’t sit here and expect soft questions or ‘woe is me.’ I don’t. I think that if you are sitting there and you don’t feel like you’re going to be attacked … We’re all going to be attacked because we’re all part of what the performance has been on Sunday. Rather than focusing on the attacks, let’s focus on what we can do. And when I say attacks, I don’t mean it in like this is bad. This is what happens in a performance business. You have to be able to handle it and put your focus on, ‘What are we going to do as a team to change it?’ The only way to change it is to win football games. We’re not doing that right now. We’ve done it week after week after week. Are there some good things? Are we getting closer? Yes. But I’m going to talk about more of that we aren’t playing to our ability. That is it at the end of the day. I’m not coaching or we’re not coaching to our ability. All of it. We are a part of it, too. I think that when you’re … Maybe for me because I have been through this before, you know what to expect. Even though you try to explain it to the players, it was probably too late when I got there today. I think it [the tweet] came out earlier and I didn’t know that. You have to do that. You have to handle it because when you have success and everyone is telling you all these good things, it’s easy. It’s great. At the end of the day, all of a sudden when you don’t live up to those expectations or play to them … I’m not talking about [individuals]. I’m talking about as a team. I’m not talking about individuals. When you don’t, people are going to come. People are pissed. There are people that support this team that expected great things from this team and we are not performing at that level. At the end of the day, if you’re not strong enough to understand that, that’s not going to help the team get on the right track.”
Ramsey put a bullseye on his back this summer when he did that interview for GQ magazine. In that article, Ramsey ripped a lot of NFL players. Therefore, you knew the pressure was on Ramsey in 2018. Hey, if you talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk, and right now, Ramsey and the Jaguars are not doing that.
