The Lakers have high hopes right now, and most teams would have high expectations if they signed the best player in the league, which the Lakers did this summer when they added LeBron James.
With James, the Lakers should be a force in the Western Conference, and according to former Laker Metta World Peace, James will get a championship while with the Lakers, but not this season.
“He’s definitely going to win a championship in L.A,” World Peach told TMZ Sports. “He’s destined. When you’re destined, sometimes you’re the chosen one. You can tell when somebody is chosen, basketball-wise. I feel like not this year because I think Kevin Durant is going to three-peat. I think Kevin Durant might four-peat, quite honestly.”
I think World Peace is correct. The Lakers are not in a position to win to a title next season, but a championship the following season could happen if they make the right moves next offseason. After buying out Luol Deng, they will have the cap space to go after guys like Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, or maybe even Jimmy Butler.
Should be interesting to see if Earvin Johnson can work his Magic next summer.
