IBF junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer traveled a long and tough road to get to the title. In July of 2017, Farmer was shot in the right hand during an altercation at his niece’s party in Philadelphia. Fortunately for Farmer, he would recover and go on to battle Kenichi Ogawa for the vacant IBF junior lightweight title later that year, but Farmer would go on to lose to Ogawa by a controversial split decision. However, the fight would later be ruled a no-contest after Ogawa tested positive for PEDs. Farmer would eventually get the IBF strap after he beat Billy Dib in early August.
On Thursday, it was announced that the 28-year-old Farmer, who is signed to promoter Lou Dibella, will be co-promoted by Matchroom Boxing. Farmer will make his Matchroom debut on October 20 in Boston against James Tennyson, which will air on DAZN.
We recently caught up with Farmer last Saturday in Atlantic City. Farmer discussed whether he wants to fight Gervonta Davis, his road to the title, being praised by Andre Ward, how he feels he would do against Vasyl Lomachenko, and so much more.
