IBF welterweight world champion Errol Spence Jr.hosted a media workout at his gym in Dallas Tuesday as he prepares for his homecoming title defense at Dallas Cowboys Headquarters against undefeated challenger Carlo Ocampo Saturday, June 16 live on SHOWTIME from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.
For the 28-year-old Spence(23-0, 20 KOs), a win over Ocampo gets him one step closer to trying to unify the welterweight division, according to Spence, beating Ocampo won’t be an issue.
“I’ve been putting this division on notice for a while. June 16 is another day that we’re going to give another one-sided performance and dominate,” Spence said. “I’ve had the welterweight division on notice since my first fight. They know I’m here.”
Many believe when it’s all said and done that Spence will be the king of 147, and he hopes to make that happen as soon as he can.
“Whoever wins the fight between Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter for the WBC title will have to fight me. I’m ready to unify. I’m ready to take the belt from either one of those guys,” Spence said.
Garcia and Porter are expected to fight in the fall for the vacant WBC welterweight title.
A lot of big names at 147, so Spence will have an opportunity to make some big fights in the near future. A future that many believe will be very bright.
