Ex-Brown Joe Thomas: ‘It was a really special moment to get love and respect from an icon like LeBron James’

Recently retired Browns LT Joe Thomas had a great run in Cleveland. The 10-time Pro Bowler spent his entire 11-year career in Cleveland.

While the Browns did not do a lot of winning over Thomas’ 11 years in Cleveland, he established himself as one of the better left tackles in football.

On Monday night at the Bucks-Cavaliers game in Cleveland, Thomas received the love that his great career deserved.

Thomas talked about his reaction to what happened last night:

“It was a really special moment to get love and respect from an icon like LeBron James, somebody that I’ve been a fan of since I was 12 years old; it was really special,” Thomas told TMZ Sports.

“Actually, once I walked off the court, I walked under the bleachers, and I got a little emotional. I’m going to be honest; I started tearing up a little bit.”

Thomas explained what made him so emotional:

“I think it was the standing ovation from the fans, the people of Cleveland, the highlight video, and then having LeBron come over really capped it off,” Thomas said. “It was just an emotional moment. I remember after I got drafted in 2007 the Cavs were in the Finals and they announced myself and Brady Quinn at the game, and the crowd went crazy. To have that moment kind of happen and come full circle again when I announced my retirement was really special. I think that moment kind of hit me pretty hard.”
