Floyd Mayweather has been hinting for the longest that he is interested in fighting in the UFC.
Whether he is serious or not, it’s hard to say, but his recent comments lead you to believe that he might be serious about stepping into the Octagon at that point.
Mayweather, 41, says that he will look to train with UFC star Tyron Woodley “soon.” Recently, Woodley had discussed training with Mayweather.
How good can Mayweather be in the Octagon?
Last night, Mayweather discussed what he brings to the MMA world.
When asked about his wrestling skills, Mayweather had this to say:
“I can wrestle. My wrestling game is not that bad,” Mayweather told TMZ Sports. “On the scale from 1 through 10, I would say it’s probably a 7, and I think we can take it up to a 9, if possible.”
Regarding his kicking game, Mayweather does not rate himself very high:
“The kicking game on a scale from 1 through 10 is probably a 4.
Of course, Mayweather is very confident in his hands:
“My hand game on a scale from 1 through 10 it’s probably a 100.”
In the end, if it makes dollars, it makes sense for Mayweather:
“It’s about presenting the right numbers, and of course, they going to present the right numbers and we going to make it happen,” Mayweather said.
The reason UFC star Conor McGregor, who Mayweather defeated by 10th-round TKO last summer, stepped into a boxing ring is because he had an opportunity to make $100 million. McGregor would not have gotten that type of money in the UFC.
I believe Mayweather would be an absolute fool to step into the Octagon at his age. With all the money he has, why take the risk?
I’ll believe this whole thing when I see it!
