Spurs F Kawhi Leonard was expected to do some big things in the 2017-18 NBA season, but injuries got in the way, and at this point, Leonard might getting in his own way.
According to ESPN, Leonard has been cleared to return, but Leonard does not feel healthy enough to play, which has caused a rift between Leonard and the Spurs.
Leonard, 26, has played in only nine games this season due to a right quad injury.
“I’ll be surprised if he gets back this year,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said on Wednesday about the two-time All-Star.
Shannon Sharpe gave his thoughts on the situation on FS1’s Undisputed.
Take a listen:
“Kawhi was that bridge from all-time greats like Robinson and Duncan — he was going to take them to the future… but this man has to be hurt. I don’t believe he’s faking it.” — @ShannonSharpe pic.twitter.com/insT0sNeKm

If a player says they are hurt, then their hurt. Therefore, Leonard has to do what’s best for him and only him.
