Ex-Pat Bret Lockett on playing in New England: ‘I had a fantastic time’

No one likes to lose, and as we know, losing is not fun. However, even though the Patriots have won five Super Bowls, they are not having much fun, according to Eagles OT Lane Johnson.

Johnson told Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take the following:

“I’d much rather have fun and win a Super Bowl than be miserable and win five Super Bowls,” Johnson said.

Former Patriots DB Bret Lockett, who played with the team in 2009, disagrees. He enjoyed his time in New England:

“I had a fantastic time,” Lockett told the Go4it podcast. “The Patriots is by far one of the top organizations that I played for; I played for three of the 32 teams in the NFL. My brother played for the other two; the Bengals and Redskins. They’re just one of the top-notch organizations, and you see that from top down from Robert Kraft all the way down to how the team is managed, and obviously, how the team is coached with Bill(Belichick).

In the end, Lockett feels that winning makes everything fun:

“Listen, I always like to say one thing if you are not winning, it’s not fun,” Lockett said. “So, I don’t know too many losers that continue to have fun while playing, and don’t know too many people that are employed in the NFL that lose that are still playing. so I’ll just leave it at that.”

While I understand what Lane Johnson is saying, winning five Super Bowls has to be fun. Yes, it’s probably a lot of pressure, and Belichick can be a tough coach, but winning cures all.

I guess it all comes down preference!
