There were a lot of moves made before the trade deadline in the NFL. A lot of big names were sent elsewhere like RB Jay Ajayi, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, and WR Kelvin Benjamin.
The Jacksonville Jaguars were busy before the deadline as they acquired DT Marcell Dareus from the Bills for a 2018 sixth-round pick last Friday. The move helps solidify an area of strength for the Jaguars, which is their defensive line.
Dareus is excited to be in Jacksonville, and believes the Jaguars can make some noise:
“With the weapons that we have, we can compete with anyone in the league,” Dareus told TMZ Sports.
Also, Dareus believes the Jags’ defense that he will be joining can be big time:
“I mean, really, the sky’s the limit man. We got some hellacious defensive backs … the defense can be as good as we wanna be. We can be the best in the league, easily.”
Currently, Jacksonville is tied with the Titans on top of the AFC South. Jacksonville has a favorable schedule(CIN, LAC, @CLE, @ARIZ, IND, SEA, HOU, @SF, @TEN) the rest of the way. Can the Jags win the AFC South? They have the defense to do it. Jacksonville’s defense is first in points allowed per game, passing yards per game, and sacks.
However, is their QB good enough? Blake Bortles has played just okay this season, but if you continue to get big time production out of Leonard Fournette, and the defense continues to play well, maybe the Jags can win the AFC South.
No matter what happens, Jacksonville probably will be playing some meaningful football in Decemeber. That’s all you can ask for in the NFL.
