Al Harrington on Marbury’s return to NBA at 40: ‘Vince Carter doing it, so why not’

Stephon Marbury has decided to give the NBA another try. The 40-year-old Marbury announced that he would like to return to the NBA on Monday via Instagram. Marbury last played in the NBA for the Celtics in 2009.

Marbury has won two championships in the Chinese Basketball Association and is a legend in China.

According to ESPN,  Marbury is expected to live up to his one-year contract with the Beijing Fly Dragons during the 2017-18 Chinese Basketball Association season and retire from the league afterward, a source said. Once the CBA season is over, which could be as early as March, the 40-year-old would like to return to the NBA after a long hiatus and retire from playing in the league.

Former NBA player Al Harrington, who has a relationship with Marbury, believes that Marbury can successfully make a return to the NBA at 40:

“Vince Carter doing it, so why not? Nash did it. He is in tip-top shape; been in tip-top shape,” Harrington told TMZ Sports.

However, Harrington(played in the BIG3) believes the BIG3 would be better for Marbury:

“Trying to get him to sign on to the BIG3. I think he would be better served in the BIG3,” Harrington said.

40 is 40, so Marbury to the NBA is a long shot, but like Harrington said, the BIG3 is probably the better option for Marbury!
