According to ESPN, Cavaliers G Kyrie Irving has requested a trade. Irving, according to the report, wants to play a bigger role with another team, and does not want to play alongside LeBron James.
Irving made this known to Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert last week, according to the report.
LeBron James, who is reportedly unhappy about the Cavaliers offseason, is said to be “disappointed” and ‘blindsided” about Irving’s request. Earlier this week, Irving told Sports Illustrated that the Cavs were in a “peculiar place.” I guess that could be part of the reason Irving wants out.
You wonder what the market will be for the 25-year-old Irving. The 4x All-Star averaged 25.2. ppg last season.
According to the report, Irving is said to be interested in joining the Spurs, Knicks, Heat, or Timberwolves.
I don’t think Irving is a number one guy. He has never made the playoffs without LeBron.
