Russell Westbrook has done it! He will average a triple-double in the 2016-17 NBA season. Westbrook needed six assists for the rest of the season to average a triple-double for the year; he recorded eight assists in a losing effort against the Suns 120-99.
The last and only other player to do it was Oscar Robertson; who averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists in the 1961-62 season.
Westbrook is still stuck on 41 triple doubles. He finished the night with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists.
For the season, Westbrook averages 31.8 ppg, 10.7 rpg, and 10.4 apg.
Westbrook has an opportunity Sunday night against the Nuggets.
