Brady on losing to Jags: ‘I think you have a bad day against a good team—it’s a recipe for losing’

In a 16-game season, there will be bad days, and Sunday was a bad day for the New England Patriots in Jacksonville. Defensively, they had a hard time slowing down Blake Bortles(29-45, 377 YDS, 4 TDs) and the Jaguars offense. The Jaguars scored 31 points and had almost 500 yards of offense(482), which helped them defeat the Patriots 31-20 in a rematch of last year’s AFC title game.

Offensively, the Patriots had a hard time moving the ball against the vaunted Jaguars defense, who kept Tom Brady(24-35, 234 yards, 2 TDs) and the New England offense in check.

The Patriots did not have one of their better days, and according to Brady, who had a costly fumble early in the fourth quarter, it’s hard to beat a good team like the Jaguars when you have a bad day.

“I mean, it’s a long year. I think you have a bad day against a good team—it’s a recipe for losing,” Brady said.

“And we shouldn’t even have had a bad day, and we’ve got to learn from having bad days—and these things don’t just magically happen, you’ve got to make them happen, and we’ve got to, all of us, have to have more urgency to do things right—more often—over the course of practices, games and then, it’s just a matter of going out and executing and playing. It was us. I mean, the first couple of drives, it was just us. I mean, you’re behind and then, playing in a situation where playing against a great team on the road that plays well went over our heads, and they played really well.”

It’s a long season, and the Patriots, just like every team in the NFL, are still working through things. Furthermore, the Pats are still trying to work through things on the offensive side of the ball without WR Julian Edelman, who will return in Week 5 after being suspended by the league for four games after testing positive for PEDs.

In the end, Jacksonville is going to be a tough team, and if the Patriots want to go back to the Super Bowl, they will probably have to see this Jaguars team again somewhere down the line, if they do, New England better hope they play better than they did on Sunday.

Jags head coach Marrone on Brady: ‘I don’t look at him as a 41-year-old’

Tom Brady is defying all types of logic. At the age of 41, and his 19th season, Brady is still playing like one of the best quarterbacks in football, which is not supposed to happen.

Last season, Brady led the Patriots to Super Bowl 52, and in that game, he threw for 505 yards and three touchdowns, but his defense let him down, and New England would lose to Philadelphia 41-33.

Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone knows first hand what it’s like to be victimized by Brady as his team lost the Patriots in last season’s AFC title game. Marrone gave his thoughts on why Brady has been so successful this late in his career.

“I don’t know him personally, but I know players that have played a long time in the league and one of the traits are that they are able to take care of their body all year round and know their body and know what they need and train very hard,” Marrone told the media on Wednesday. “There’s a lot of toughness in there also, a lot of competitiveness in there. You have to have a great discipline about yourself to do that, to play. Tommy is a great example of that and not knowing what he has done, but he has obviously done something because I don’t look at him as a 40 or 41-year old.”

Marrone was with former NFL QB Vinny Testaverde late in his career when Marrone was with the Jets, and saw what it takes to play in your 40s.

“I was with Testaverde for a whole season and Vinny was the same type of way,” Marrone said. “I forget how old he was. I’m talking about young and strong. Vinny was like that. I’m not trying to compare the two from the standpoint of what they have done. I’m comparing how disciplined you have to be to play.”

At some point, Brady will fall off, but for now, let’s enjoy his greatness!

HOF Moss talks playing through pain & play where Brady tore his ACL(Video)

Hall of Famer Randy Moss had a lot of great moments in his 14-year NFL career. Whether it’s setting the NFL rookie record for touchdown receptions with 17 in 1998, or the 23 touchdowns receptions in 2007, which is an NFL record for touchdown receptions in a season. It’s very evident that Moss made a lot of plays. In the process of making all those plays, Moss had some pain along the way, which he always tried to play through.

Many forget on the play that Tom Brady tore his ACL back in 2008 against the Chiefs; Moss was the player who caught the pass and fumbled.

Listen below as Moss talks playing through pain, and describes his role in the play that ended Brady’s season in 2008:

Former Pats TE Fred Baxter explains Brady’s success in the NFL(VIDEO)

Patriots QB Tom Brady had another successful season in the NFL. In 2017, at the age of 40, Brady was able to win the MVP award, and lead the Patriots to Superbowl 52(lost to Eagles).

Brady will be 41 by the start of next season and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Entering his 19th season in the league, Brady has won five Super Bowls, which is the most by any quarterback in the history of the NFL

How does a guy who was a sixth-round draft pick turn himself into possibly the greatest quarterback of all-time? One of his former teammates in New England, TE Fred Baxter, who played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Jets, Patriots, and Bears, believes Brady’s upbringing is a big reason for his success:

“There’s no doubt in my mind the success that he is having is all because of his upbringing with his family,” Baxter explained. “Also, the power within himself to compete and bring out the best in his teammates.”

To Baxter’s point, Brady willed the Patriots to the Super Bowl last season. They easily could have lost to the Jaguars in AFC title game, and the way they were able to compete in the Super Bowl against the Eagles, was because of the greatness of Brady.

Listen below as Baxter talks Brady and whether he is the greatest of all-time:

New England Zoo names baby goat ‘Foles’

Super Bowl 52 was a great moment for the champion starved fans of Philly. The Eagles get their first Super Bowl victory, and Philly gets their first professional sports title in 10 years.

None of this would have happened without the greatness of Super Bowl 52 MVP Nick Foles.

Earlier this week, Foles received some more love. You see, the Philadelphia Zoo and Zoo New England made a little wager.

Here were the terms of the bet:

If the Patriots win Super Bowl 52, the Philadelphia Zoo will name their next born goat “Brady.” If the Eagles win, Zoo New England will name their next born goat after the Philadelphia quarterback, “Foles.”

Well, the Eagles won, and that new goat was born, and, of course, he was named “Foles.”

Take a look at the goat:

Brady might be the “GOAT,” but Foles was the “GOAT” on that Sunday in February.

Fans may participate via entry cards tweeted from all 32 team accounts or by directly visiting the @NFL profile page at Twitter.com/NFL. The entry cards will initiate a private “Direct Message” and enable fans to select a position group or search for a player or team to begin the voting process.

  • Starting tomorrow, fans can also vote directly on Twitter with the #ProBowlVote hashtag. To cast such a vote, fans should tweet the first and last name of the player, or the player’s official Twitter handle, along with the hashtag: #ProBowlVote. This method is in addition to the online ballot at NFL.com/ProBowlVote and the DM Voting Experience, which will both be available throughout the voting period.

The 2018 Pro Bowl, which kicks off at a new start time of 3:00 PM ET on Sunday, January 28, will be televised live from Camping World Stadium on ESPN and ESPN Deportes and simulcast on ABC. Players for the game are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players who will be selected to the Pro Bowl. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Friday, December 15.

Pro Bowl rosters will be announced on Tuesday, December 19 live on NFL Network’s Pro Bowl special “NFL Total Access: Pro Bowl Players Revealed” at 8:00 PM ET. The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its All-Star teams. It was also the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.

Tickets to the game start at $45 and are on sale now at NFL.com/ProBowlOnSale. Last year’s sold-out event – the Pro Bowl’s first time in Orlando – featured a capacity crowd of more than 60,000. Fans may visit ProBowl.com for additional information on Pro Bowl Week, which features a variety of free, family-friendly events in Orlando.

The Pro Bowl is an all-inclusive event for fans on gameday. Working with KultureCity, Camping World Stadium’s sensory-inclusive partner, the NFL will offer families who attend the 2018 Pro Bowl support, including sensory accessibility resources and two dedicated sensory rooms located in the stadium on gameday to enable them to enjoy the game with more confidence and comfort.
