Ball would rather be a Laker than the number one pick in NBA Draft

Being the number one pick in the NBA Draft is what many players dream about, but for Lonzo Ball that is not the case. Ball told ESPN’s SportsNation that he would rather be a Laker than the number one pick in the draft. When given the choice, here is how Ball answered:

“I’m going with the Lakers. All my family is from L.A. so to be able to play in front of them, I think that would mean more to me”

At least he is honest. We’ll see where he goes come June.

Lamar Odom on cocaine: ‘It was my drug of choice’

Lamar Odom opened up about his drug addiction, reality TV, and so much more to US Weekly. Odom, 37, talked about his cocaine addiction and how his former wife Khloe Kardashian found out about his cocaine habit:

“I was in the man cave she had made for me and she caught me. She was disappointed. So was I. The sad thing about it is, I don’t know if I was disappointed because I was actually doing the drug or because she caught me. She knew I was doing cocaine the whole time after that. It was my drug of choice.”

According to Odom, he is sober. Hopefully, he can continue to stay sober.

LaVar Ball says the darndest things: ‘Lonzo will have that same impact that Magic had’

LaVar Ball is moving the needle. When he speaks, people listen! Well, he continued his ranting and raving today. Ball told ESPN’s “First Take” that Lonzo Ball would have the same impact as Magic Johnson!! Yes, the great Magic Johnson.  He also responded to LeBron James.

Listen for yourself:

“The Big Statue”

Shaquille O’Neal will be forever immortalized! The Lakers will unveil Shaq’s statue Friday night at Staples Center. The statue will sit outside the Lakers’ home arena.

The Lakers, who are in rebuild mode, are longing for the glory days of Shaq and Kobe! New President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson has a long road ahead, but we have all summer to worry about that!

Congrats Shaq!

Shaq: ‘The Earth is Flat’

Add Shaq to list of those who believe that the earth is not round, but flat. Kyrie Irving ‘s belief that the earth is flat was the talk of All-Star weekend, and now Shaq has joined the conversation. Shaq shared his ideas about the earth on “The Big Podcast with Shaq.”

“It’s true. The Earth is flat. The Earth is flat. Yeah, it is. Yes, it is. Listen, there are three ways to manipulate the mind — what you read, what you see and what you hear. In school, first thing they teach us is, ‘Oh, Columbus discovered America,’ but when he got there, there were some fair skinned people with the long hair smoking on the peace pipes. So what does that tell you? Columbus didn’t discover America. So, listen, I drive from coast to coast, and this sh_t is flat to me. I’m just saying, I drive from Florida to California all the time, and it’s flat to me. I do not go up and down at a 360-degree angle, and all that stuff about gravity. Have you looked outside Atlanta lately and seen all these buildings? You mean to tell me that China is under us? China is under us? It’s not. The world is flat.”

Is the earth round or flat? I don’t know, but nothing would surprise me.

LaVar Ball: ‘Lakers gonna get that ball, then they gonna get that Ball’

LaVar Ball believes that Lonzo Ball is going to be a Laker after the 2017 NBA Draft.  Ball told TMZ Sports how it’s going to happen:

“He gonna go to the Lakers. Watch!  Lakers gonna get that ball(Draft lottery),  and then they gonna get that (Lonzo)Ball.”

Also, LaVar tells why he believes Lonzo is a better option than Washington’s Markelle Fultz:

“If you got a kid that makes everybody better, you mean to tell me you wouldn’t take him over a guy that’s averaging 40 points, but the team’s losing? If you wanna winner, you pick my boy.”

Should be fun to see what happens come draft day in the NBA.

Are the Lakers tanking?

The Los Angeles Lakers are a franchise in transition. Now, it appears they are flat out tanking. According to reports, the Lakers have decided to shut down F Luol Deng and C Timofey Mozgov for the final 15 games of the season.  One reason the  Lakers might be tanking is their first-round pick in the 2017 draft is top three protected.  Therefore, if the pick goes below three, the pick goes to the 76ers. That would be a killer for the Lakers. Currently, the Lakers have the second worst record in the NBA.

I believe this a wise decision. You have to protect your assets.  For now, the young guys play and develop. More importantly,  you try to ensure you get a top three pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have a lot of work to do to get this team back to respectability. We’ll see if they can get it done.

For now, I say tank on Lakers!!

Magic is back!

I guess it was time for change! Gone are Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss, and in are the new president of basketball operations the great Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka. They have a lot of work to do, but they have some talent in Lakerland. It may take a few years to get it right, but time will be the judge of whether or not this was a good hire. The Lakers needed a jolt, and maybe this was the jolt they needed! I can’t wait for the three team deal involving Magic, Bird and Jordan!
